Now Hiring: Barash Media Full-Time Advertising Sales Representative

Barash Media, the parent company of Town&Gown Magazine, is seeking a motivated and results-driven Advertising Sales Representative to support the continued growth of our family of publications.

Town&Gown Magazine has been a trusted voice and pillar of the State College and Happy Valley community for 60 years. Founded in 1966 by Sy and Mimi Barash, the free monthly publication celebrates the people, places, traditions, and businesses that make our region unique, fostering connections among residents, visitors, and the Penn State community through engaging local storytelling. 

As part of Barash Media, Town&Gown is joined by a family of respected publications that have long documented and supported life in Happy Valley, including the Penn State Football Annual, the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts Guide, the Centre County Chamber of Business & Industry Guide, and many others.

All Barash Media publications are free and widely accessible at hundreds of locations throughout Centre County. Our work is made possible entirely through the support of local advertisers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage advertising sales, client relationships, and account renewals for Town&Gown Magazine and Barash Media special publications.
  • Conduct outreach through email, phone, networking events, and in-person meetings to develop new business and maintain existing accounts.
  • Draft sales correspondence, renewal reminders, promotional copy, and customized proposals.
  • Research prospective advertisers and identify opportunities that align with each publication’s audience and mission.
  • Develop tailored advertising packages, rate proposals, and marketing solutions to meet client goals.
  • Coordinate ad materials, approvals, placement details, and deadlines with advertisers and the editorial and design teams.
  • Track sales performance and revenue goals across publications and maintain accurate account records.
  • Assist with accounts receivable by following up on outstanding balances and addressing billing questions.
 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in advertising sales, marketing, or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and a talent for building lasting relationships.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and goal-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Familiarity with the local business community and media landscape is a plus.

Location

This position is based in our office at 403 S. Allen St., Suite 101, State College, PA 16801. The role will begin as fully in-person to support training, collaboration, and relationship-building.
