Job description

Are you looking for a remote, hybrid, or in-office Environmental Program Manager Position to lead environmental planning and compliance consulting for an ENR Top 100 Design Firm in the Digital Infrastructure industry? Do you thrive on challenges and have interest in an opportunity to provide environmental planning and compliance oversite for major data center clients? 
We would love to have you join our Digital Infrastructure team today, supporting the planned growth of a number of top data center clients. We are looking for a highly-motivated person to lead Terracon environmental professionals in executing environmental planning and compliance consulting services while delivering results that are aligned with the client's programmatic approach and with a high level of responsiveness. 
Some of the environmental planning and compliance skills we are currently looking for include:

  • Air permitting (Title V and minor source)
  • Stormwater/SWPPP
  • RCRA/Hazardous waste
  • Compliance auditing
  • Oil Storage/SPCC plans
  • SARA Title III (Tier II/TRI) reporting

To be successful in this role you will need to be confident and possess a strong technical background with proven leadership skills, specifically working with data center clients. Through the success of teams of Terracon professionals, you will be responsible for bringing consistency to the management of projects, preparation of reports and other deliverables that align with the clients' programmatic approach to executing environmental planning and compliance services. You will also lead efforts to engage existing and new data center clients to learn how their needs for environmental services align with their project life cycle, from site selection through construction and operations. You will serve as a point of contact for these clients, supporting their projects and pursuits across the U.S. Additionally, you will identify environmental aspects and ensure the client's data centers remain in full compliance, communicate these requirements to all stakeholders and management, and provide training online and/or in person.

  • Bachelor's degree in the Environmental Sciences and a minimum of 15 years' experience in environmental planning and compliance in the U.S. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 19 years' related experience.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

  • Responsible for learning and managing clients' large scale environmental programs.
  • Conduct project meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of projects within the client's project team.
  • Directs the efforts of the largest projects and client pursuits including strategy and facilitation.
  • Works with Terracon project teams to define project scope, scale, schedule, and budget in addition to determining how best to phase the project to meet the client's programmatic and budget expectations.
  • Leads interactions with client, stakeholders, and project managers to ensure the projects or aspects of projects are being coordinated to meet the needs of the client and stakeholders.
  • Design, communicate, and implement a project plan including a detailed project plan and schedule for completing the projects.
  • Leads safety efforts including preparation of Terracon project teams for compliance with client-approved safety plans. Holds Managers and Employees accountable for following safety rules and guidelines.
  • Resolve operational problems and assist Terracon project teams to bring resources to bear across multiple project interfaces to minimize delays.
  • Assists Terracon project teams in estimating costs, resources, and time required to complete clients' programmatic tasks.
  • Assists Terracon project teams with monitoring activities, allocating resources, and assigning tasks to ensure clients' deliverable deadlines are met.
  • Partner with project managers to work with other departments or offices to secure specialized resources for the project.
  • Coach and mentor project managers and assist them to solve problems.
  • Coordinate with Terracon project teams and project accounting to assist with client invoicing and collections.
  • Manage risk related to projects. Ensure contracts are signed and fully executed prior to commencing work. Monitor adherence to corporate risk policies and practices.
  • Hold Managers accountable for mitigating or eliminating risk.
  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Ensure best practices are being followed and hold Managers accountable for quality control standards.
