Job description

An laborer works with all crews doing everything from pick and shovel work to cleaning up the job site. Will be working with various pipes from 1” to 8”, digging in trenches shoveling, and trenching dirt.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • General construction work and heavy lifting required.
  • Assist other craft workers or construction managers.
  • Remove debris and potential hazards from the worksite.
  • Dig trenches or ditches using picks, shovels, or other digging equipment.
  • May operate hand and power tools of all types.
  • Practice workplace safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one plus years’ experience working in the construction field in similar or related position (preferred but not required).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position does not have any supervisory duties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions will be in a field environment usually at a worksite. May be exposed to arduous weather conditions such as extreme heat and cold. Must be physically fit and able to lift over 50 lbs. throughout the day. Will be required to bend, stoop, or reach. Must have use of both hands and good eyesight.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

Hard hats may be required if on a worksite along with long sleeve shirt and pants. If working in a traffic area a safety vest is required. Must wear work boots. Required PPE will be provided during onboarding.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE

Must have experience using shovels, picks, and other digging equipment.
