Job description

Job Title:ย Dietary Cook

Reports to:ย  Dietary Managerย 

Job Description:ย  Responsible for assisting with some food preparation, washing dishes, maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining room, and serving meals to the residents.ย  Assist any residents who need help with their meals.ย  The dietary cook works along with the dietary manager to prepare and serve meals and beverages.ย  Dietary Cook will also assist in clean up, kitchen maintenance, and setting up and taking down the dining areas.ย  Other job duties include delivering food to residents' rooms, preparing and serving snacks, and taking inventory of food and kitchen supplies.

Job Responsibilities:ย ย 

  • Serves all food according to the menu in a safe, sanitary manner under the direction of the dining services coordinator/manager.
  • Maintains kitchen sanitation and safety standards under the direction of the Dining Services Coordinator.
  • Assist in serving meals to residents within an assisted living community as well as maintaining standards of kitchen cleanliness.
  • Setting up and taking down the dining areas.
  • Follows departmental procedures including sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules.
  • Reports any concerns with the health and well-being of residents to the Resident Care Coordinator or Nurse.
  • Maintains and protects the confidentiality of resident information at all times.
  • Meets or exceeds the standards of appearance; complies with the sanitation rules, hygiene, and health standards of community personnel.
  • Serves meals finely and graciously, ensuring the dignity and nutritional needs of the residents.
  • Assists with putting away and organizing the weekly orders.
  • Helps keep the kitchen and dining room clean and organized.
  • Ensures that the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining area meets or exceeds the dietary manager's specifications and is in compliance with state regulations.
  • Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications:ย ย 

  • Must possess a current Food Handler's Permit
  • Have the ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, supervisors, and associates.
  • Must provide written proof of a recent TB test or obtain one within two weeks of the date of hire.
  • Must be positive and deliver a WOW experience through service.
  • Performs unpleasant tasks with grace; works cooperatively with supervisors and displays willingness to assist co-workers
  • Willingness to work with the elderly.

Physical Requirements:

Has the ability to do occasional heavy lifting (up to 40 lbs.)
