Overview
We are seeking a Diet Clerk, sometimes referred to as Nutrition Clerk or Dietary Clerk. Under the direction of the dietitian, the Diet Clerk performs clinical support tasks related to reviewing and approving therapeutic menu selections. The Diet Clerk will also ensure patient trays are accurate and served at appropriate temperatures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
  • Review and update physician diet orders in the hospital's EHR to ensure each patient receives meals matching their prescribed diet
  • Assist patients with menu selections, print and distribute menus, and make substitutions when necessary
  • Communicate diet change, allergy, and preference between nursing units, dietitians, and kitchen staff
  • Enter and maintain meal orders, admissions, and discharges in the dietary computer system to keep records accurate
  • Ensure diet accuracy, follow food safety standards, and support quality checks within the nutrition department

Qualifications
Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:
  • AA degree in Food Science/Nutrition preferred
  • One (1) year of healthcare experience working with modified diets preferred
