Salary: $35 – $45/hour (DOE)

Position Overview


We are seeking an experienced Field Heavy Equipment / Diesel Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain construction and earthmoving equipment in both field and shop environments. This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues while working independently in the field. You will be responsible for developing repair plans, ordering parts, documenting repairs, and ensuring equipment is returned to service safely and efficiently.


Key Responsibilities


• Diagnose and repair heavy construction equipment and component systems

• Develop repair plans including sequence of work, required tooling, and parts

• Perform mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and electrical repairs on equipment

• Conduct quality assurance testing following repairs to ensure proper operation

• Complete daily service reports, parts orders, and work orders accurately and on time

• Communicate repair progress and equipment status to supervisors and customers

• Retrieve and return parts and materials using internal parts ordering systems

• Maintain and properly use service trucks, tools, and shop equipment

• Follow all company safety policies and procedures

• Maintain a clean and organized work area and service vehicle

• Perform additional service tasks and support assignments as needed


Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required

• Associate degree in Diesel or Equipment Technology OR four years of apprenticeship experience

• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills

• Experience repairing construction or heavy equipment preferred

• Ability to work independently in field service environments

• Strong communication and documentation skills

• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

• Technician level classification based on experience and competency
