Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic
Starting Rates: $25 - $35 an hour based on experience
$4,000 SIGN ON BONUS!

Red River Waste Solutions is an environmental services company that provides waste management solutions for the communities we serve. As a company that serves many communities throughout the United States, we are looking to add another team member to the RRWS family.
As the Diesel Mechanic with Red River Waste Solutions, you will perform engine and emission maintenance as well as repairs on all trucks and equipment and, where necessary, can perform all drive train component work, as well as suspension and steering systems repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty trucks as well as light-duty trucks. This position requires an advanced level of knowledge of various heavy-duty diesel truck work varying from drive trains, suspension, valve systems, as well as engine chassis and body control systems. The Mechanic must be able to perform advanced-level repair and maintenance in compliance with the Company's safety procedures and requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs and/or assists in repairs and maintenance of RRWS fleet vehicles in a safe manner in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Perform emergency repairs on truck breakdowns during company operating hours.
  • Provides advanced mechanical assistance in all areas of automotive repair-per company maintenance schedules and/or from driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIR).
    • Vehicle's engine - Engine Chassis.
    • Emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic and electrical systems.
    • Welding experience is a plus.
  • Ensure all safety devices on vehicles are in good working order.
  • Use an assortment of hand tools, a heavy impact air wrench, computer, and other related equipment.
    • Must have own tools.
    • Must use safety equipment: glasses, gloves, etc.
  • Perform roadside repairs and adjustments.
  • Perform/assist in routine housekeeping duties related to tools, materials, shop, and work areas.
  • Administrative duties when necessary, such as cycle counts, parts requisitions, warranties, etc.
    • Maintain accurate records for all vehicles in the fleet such as time, repair orders, parts usage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Class A or B diesel mechanic - at least 3 (three) years of experience in a mechanic/tech position requiring knowledge and application of shop safety including, lockout tag out, fire safety, safe use of hand and power tools, and the safe use of cutting and welding tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, electrical, suspension, and drive train with at least 3 (three) years of hands-on experience is a PLUS!
  • ASE Air Brakes, Electrical/Electronic, Diesel Engine, HVAC Systems certification is a PLUS!
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of PC-based diagnostics operation.
  • Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertion: standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward and/or tight areas.)
  • Must be able to lift upwards to 75 lbs. (pounds).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.
  • DOT Med Card.
  • No more than 3 violations within the last 3 years.
  • Must complete pre-employment screening.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
