Diesel Maintenance Technician (B)
Job Overview
Vehicle Technician B will repair and maintain all types of customer vehicles and equipment, including material handling, trailers, and diesel-powered equipment; perform job duties independently with limited supervision; provide mentoring and assistance to Vehicle Technician C's as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform some electrical, mechanical diagnostic, and repair of customer vehicles and equipment, including material handling, trailers, and diesel-powered equipment
  • Perform various forms of equipment repair including drive chain components, automatic brake systems, etc. through an intermediate level of experience and system knowledge
  • Maintainaccurateparts inventory, research, resolve all discovered inventory discrepancies and notify maintenance management when a resolution is not available
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and warehouse,
  • Performothertasksasdeterminedandrequestedbymanagement
  • Work in the Maintenance software system to record data, ensure DOT compliance, and ensurefollow-upof return orders
  • Serve as a mentor for Vehicle Technicians C, as needed; may perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Basic welding and cutting torch operation skills
  • Basic electrical, mechanical diagnostics, and repair skills
  • Understanding of tire ination systems
  • Knowledge and ability to mount and dismount tires
  • Basic diagnostic tool skills
  • Ability to schedule and prioritize daily tasks
  • Must adhere to company uniform and appearance standards
  • Professional and appropriate interaction with internal and external customers
  • Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions tools, equipment, machinery and, or materials used to power, hand, diagnostic tools operate material handling equipment
  • Must be capable of driving company equipment including class 8 tractors working conditions
  • Must be able to work a exible schedule and be able to vary the start and nish times, possibly including weekends and holidays
  • Basic computer skills
  • Each technician needs to provide their own tools
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge acquired through 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • D.O.T. Brake Inspection certification
  • Ability to obtain a DOT medical certificate
