GMC dealership heavy line technician Sign-On Bonus: Qualified candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $3,000, payable after 90 days of continuous employment, subject to eligibility requirements, satisfactory performance, and dealership bonus program terms. Seeking an experienced and motivated GMC Heavy Line Technician to join our busy service department. In this critical role, you will diagnose and perform major mechanical repairs on GMC cars, SUVs, and light/medium-duty trucks. You will specialize in complex engine overhauls, transmission rebuilds, and drivetrain repairs. We offer top-tier compensation, a fully equipped shop, ongoing GM factory training, and a steady stream of high-paying heavy line work. Key Responsibilities Major Mechanical Repair: Perform engine teardowns, rebuilds, and replacements for both GM gasoline and Duramax diesel engines. Drivetrain & Transmission: Diagnose, overhaul, and repair automatic/manual transmissions, differentials, transfer cases, and drive axles. Advanced Diagnostics: Utilize GM factory scan tools (GDS2, Tech2) and oscilloscope equipment to troubleshoot complex electrical, drivability, and network issues. Quality Workmanship: Execute multi-point inspections and ensure all repairs meet factory safety and performance standards. Documentation: Clear and accurate writing of root causes, correction steps, and precise measurements for warranty and customer-pay repair orders. Shop Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace, adhering to all OSHA and dealership environmental regulations.
Job Requirement:  Qualifications & Skills Experience: Minimum 3+ years of professional automotive repair experience, with a heavy emphasis on heavy line, engine, or transmission work. Brand Expertise: Prior GM dealership experience and strong familiarity with Duramax diesel platforms are highly preferred. Certifications: Active ASE certifications (specifically A1 Engine Repair, A2 Automatic Transmission, and/or A9 Light Vehicle Diesel) or GM factory training credentials. Tools: Must possess a comprehensive inventory of personal professional tools and roll-cart. Tech Savvy: Ability to comfortably navigate digital repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and shop management software. Driving Record: Valid driver’s license with a clean record to test-drive customer and dealership vehicles.
