Job description

Diesel / hydraulic Mechanic 

The successful candidate will troubleshoot diesel engine failures, hydraulic systems powered by pto ,electrical lines, airbrakes, repairs, and preventive maintenance service on Company vehicles and equipment. You will be required to operate a variety of power tools along with hand tools while working on diesel trucks and other Company equipment. Most equipment is heavy road construction trucks with pto 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Diagnose and perform repairs to any mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and air brakes 
  • Preventative maintenance and daily checks for equipment function and safety
  • Proficient with air brake systems
  • adjust equipment for proper tuning regularly
  • Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services and DOT Inspections
  • Communicates with vehicle and equipment operators to assist in diagnosing problems and facilitating repairs 
  • Willingness to travel
  • Must be able to operate a Street Sweeper and other equipment when needed

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-5 years of mechanical experience
  • Valid AZ CDL license preferred
  • Excellent knowledge and ability to diagnose various systems/components of machinery such as hydraulic systems, electrical, and other systems, and their components
  • Proficient with air brake systems
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Skill and experience with a cutting torch and welding preferred
  • Street Sweeper experience - Preferred but not required
  • Dump truck experience - preferred but not required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing this position's duties, you must be able to move frequently, stand, walk, and sit. You will be required to use your hands to touch, handle, and feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs
  • Moderate exposure to dust, wide temperature range, noise, vibrations, fumes, harsh chemicals, odors, pollens and grasses, grease, machinery, and moving parts.
