Job description

#INDISG

We’re looking for a dependable Diesel Mechanic to support the inspection, maintenance, and repair of diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment in a fast-paced industrial environment. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, the ability to perform advanced repairs with minimal supervision, and a commitment to keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines, driveline systems, and equipment components efficiently.
  • Dependability and accountability while working independently, prioritizing repairs, and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Team-focused mindset with the ability to mentor and support lower-level mechanics through hands-on training and guidance.
  • Commitment to quality workmanship, preventive maintenance, and minimizing equipment downtime through thorough inspections and repairs.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections on diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
  • Complete post-trip inspections to identify repair needs and ensure equipment safety and compliance.
  • Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, driveline, brake, suspension, and hydraulic system issues.
  • Replace tires, clutches, brakes, and other worn or damaged mechanical components.
  • Perform complete diesel engine overhauls and rebuilds as needed.
  • Complete differential, transmission, and driveline overhauls and repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and complete major electrical system repairs on vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain specialty equipment and bolt-on components.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair documentation, and inspection reports.
  • Assist with maintaining shop cleanliness, organization, and inventory of tools and parts.
  • Support field maintenance operations and travel temporarily to job sites when needed to repair equipment.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Perform additional duties and maintenance responsibilities as assigned.

What You’ll Need

  • High school diploma or technical school training preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of diesel mechanic or heavy equipment maintenance experience, including technical training or apprenticeship experience.
  • Experience working in a fleet, equipment, industrial, or maintenance shop environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and driveline components.
  • Ability to safely operate diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, lifting devices, and shop equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and work in awkward positions for extended periods during 8–12 hour shifts.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, around industrial noise, grease, dust, vibrations, and moving mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and respiratory protection when required.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, emergency call-outs, and temporary field assignments as business needs require.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive pay based on experience and certifications
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Time off and floating holidays
  • Volunteer Time Off (VTO) to support causes in your community
  • Employee referral bonus program
  • Wellness benefits that support your physical and mental well-being
  • Company-provided uniforms and safety gear
  • Clean, organized shop environment
  • Modern diagnostic tools and well-maintained equipment
  • Opportunities for training, certifications, and skill development
  • Stable, year-round work with a supportive team

Who Thrives Here

You take pride in your work and believe the job should be done right the first time, looking beyond quick fixes to understand root causes and ensure equipment leaves the shop better than it arrived, while appreciating a clean workspace, reliable tools, and the satisfaction of solving tough problems.

You’ll fit right in if you are:

  • Motivated by doing quality work
  • Safety-focused and detail-oriented
  • Someone who takes ownership of their repairs
  • Reliable and accountable
  • A team player who supports coworkers when needed
  • Always looking to improve your skills and knowledge

Here, mechanics are trusted professionals whose work helps keep operations running safely and efficiently every day.
