Job description

Primary Responsibilities:
Conduct engineering research, design, and development for assigned projects, working independently or as a team member, while receiving or providing limited assistance from/to other team members where necessary.
Duties:
• In major to minor conjunction with an immediate supervisor or an additional supporting Engineer, analyze and establish the nature and objective of each assignment for specifications, procedures, tests, project management tasks, and other engineering concepts involved.
• Assist to analyze and interpret engineering data submitted for new products and changes affecting standard products. Assist to analyze and interpret engineering concepts and specifications and to plan and organize research procedures.
• Consistently & accurately update project management system for all assigned projects &/or tasks. If applicable, provide limited support for less experienced engineers to help facilitate their projects.
• Interact with customers on engineering design and any questions/problems they may have. Direct and/or coordinate assigned engineering activities required to determine customer needs and requirements relative to products manufactured by the company.
• Interact with vendors concerning parts they supply or propose to supply to company.
• Responsible for the application of sound engineering principles, extent and adequacy of exploratory research and techniques, and the basic designs, construction and testing of pilot models.
• Assist as necessary in resolving production problems.
• Render technical advice and assistance to Technicians, Drafting personnel and prototype builders, et al., assigned to the projects. Check completed drawings for accuracy of design, dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, etc.
• Maintain records having to do with material specifications, research procedures, development techniques, designs, test data, time, etc.
• Participate in engineering and general design review as required.
• Analyze and evaluate test data, prepare recommendations and participate in consultations to evaluate and determine design values, feasibility of manufacture, sales potential and other pertinent considerations.
• Prepare periodic reports and recommendations.
• Participate in consultations to analyze research procedures, evaluate results, and to assist with project status assessment, planning and recommendations.
• Perform liaison activities required to obtain informational data, services, material, etc., necessary to the projects assigned. Confer with manufacturing engineering regarding feasibility of manufacture, cost estimates, etc.
• Invents or discovers new and useful processes, machines, manufactures, or compositions of matter, or any new and useful improvements thereof for the exclusive use by and ownership of Trombetta.
• Keep well informed on new developments in the engineering fields.
• Develop working relationships with manufacturing, machining, purchasing, and quality departments to address and resolve problems and to develop better cooperation for working together toward producing the highest quality projects at the lowest possible cost.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school in mechanical engineering. Special courses pertinent to the research and development field are beneficial. One to four years of general engineering experience preferred: Manager discretion will be utilized to determine tangible experience level relating directly to applicable engineering disciplines and knowledge for existing and developing products. In addition, manager discretion will be utilized to determine tangible experience level for project management as well as engineering and production support. Requires experience with 3D modeling software.
