Job description

Position:  Floor Tech 

Diverse Facility Solutions (DFS) is a Facility Services company, specializing in Janitorial Services, operating out of Alsip, IL. Currently the company serves 11 airports across the US, several Higher Education facilities in the City of Chicago, and municipalities in the Chicagoland area. DFS currently employs over 1300 employees across the US and has a core staff of 12 working out of the company headquarters in Illinois. Job Description:  

The Floor Tech is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that building and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner. Knowledge or willingness to learn proper cleaning techniques is essential. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Perform Projects as instructed by DFS management, including but not limited to;  

  • Carpet Extraction, Encapsulation, and spotting  

  • Hard floor stripping, waxing, burnishing, polishing and scrubbing 

  • Facility periodic detailing duties as assigned 

  • Perform and/or report minor maintenance repairs and any damages 

  • Maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized and safe manner 

  • Maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition  

  • Proper labeling, dilution and use of all chemicals 

  • Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment at all times 

  • Perform other custodial duties as assigned 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:  

  • The Floor Tech reports to the Custodial Supervisor and cares for the Main building/facilities and equipment. Maintaining these responsibilities will help to ensure the health, safety and security of the public. 

  • Strong follow-through on delegated tasks and assignments 

  • Ability to operate and use tools/equipment 

  • Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions 

  • Maintain a positive attitude 

  • Good client/customer service skills 

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks 

  • Ability to work effectively independently or with a team 

  • Basic knowledge of general housekeeping methods and practices, cleaning products and use 

  • Knowledge of hard floor and carpet detail projects 

Physical Demands:  The Floor Tech position is a physically demanding position. The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, lifting heavy objects.
