Job description

The Professional Tool Center is seeking a detail-oriented, skilled, and motivated Tool Service & Repair Technician to join our service department. This individual will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of power tools, hand tools, pneumatic tools, and related equipment. The ideal candidate should be technically proficient, safety-minded, and committed to delivering high-quality customer service.

Reporting to the Customer Service Supervisor, the Professional Tool Center Technician is responsible for receiving, passing, and providing the information necessary to deliver an outstanding customer experience. Strive to meet customer deadlines and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair a variety of tools, including electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and determine the best course of repair.
  • Accurately read and interpret schematics and technical documents.
  • Maintain accurate service records, parts usage, and repair notes in the system.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding tool condition, repair options, and cost estimates.
  • Order and track necessary parts and components for repairs.
  • Other duties as assigned per management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • 1โ€“3 years of experience in tool repair, mechanical servicing, or a similar technical role.
  • Experience with major tool brands (e.g., Milwaukee, DeWalt, Makita, Ingersoll Rand).
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and service tracking.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools, multimeters, schematics, and manufacturer service manuals.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Practical mechanical aptitude.
