Job description

SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer that will be responsible for the governance, administration, operational execution, and continuous improvement of the CI/CD ecosystem supporting Mortenson’s Oracle PaaS and SaaS platforms. This role owns the deployment and migration processes, tools, standards, and observability and monitoring for Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, Oracle extensibility solutions, and OCI-based custom applications, including Oracle Autonomous Transaction Processing (ATP), Oracle APEX, Oracle Visual Builder Cloud Service (VBCS), ORDS, Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), and related technologies.

The position serves as the primary technical authority for code promotion, deployment automation, software delivery governance, and configuration management. The role balances hands-on operational responsibilities with strategic ownership of DevOps practices, ensuring the Oracle Cloud Platforms are reliable and deployments are repeatable, auditable, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards.

Approximately 75% of this role focuses on tactical execution, operations, and platform administration, while 25% focuses on strategic planning, standards, architecture alignment, and CI/CD roadmap development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

DevOps Tool Administration and Automation:

  • Administer and support FlexDeploy and related CI/CD and configuration tooling.
  • Manage source control integrations, branching strategies, build pipelines, and deployment automation workflows.
  • Develop and enhance automation for Oracle Cloud deployments, configurations, and environment promotions.

CI/CD Governance, Process Ownership, and Production Deployment:

  • Define, implement, and maintain deployment standards, code promotion processes, and migration controls.
  • Establish governance policies ensuring all deployments are traceable, auditable, and compliant with DevOps best practices.
  • Maintain deployment approval workflows and change management integration.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator and executor for production releases.

Monitoring, Reliability, and Operational Excellence

  • Manage the Observability and Monitoring platform and develop monitoring and alerts for Oracle Cloud solutions.
  • Establish deployment metrics, KPIs, and release health reporting.
  • Partner with platform teams to improve system reliability, deployment velocity, and operational maturity.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures and deployment issues.

Strategic functions:

  • Develop and maintain the DevOps roadmap for Oracle Cloud platforms.
  • Evaluate emerging Oracle and third-party CI/CD tools and capabilities.
  • Lead adoption of deployment automation best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to DevOps practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps, Application Delivery, Release Engineering, or Platform Engineering.
  • 3+ years supporting Oracle Cloud platforms.
  • Proven experience managing enterprise CI/CD platforms and production releases.
  • Experience with Observability and Monitoring tools such as APM, log aggregation, and metric visualization.
  • Ability to lead effective collaboration across multiple domain teams.
  • Technical experience with Oracle Technology stacks such as APEX, ORDS, Oracle Databases, VBCS, and PL/SQL.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning skills

Preferred

  • Experience with FlexDeploy, Oracle Visual Builder Studio, and Azure DevOps.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications.
  • Knowledge or experience with IT Automation and tools such as Ansible.
  • Experience with Application Development and SDLC.

The base pay range for this role is $110,300 - $165,500. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). 

 Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
