These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring fast, reliable software delivery and maintaining high quality throughout the development lifecycle.

What is DevOps testing?

DevOps testing refers to the practices and tools used to ensure software quality throughout the continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline. It involves automating tests, integrating testing early in the development cycle, and fostering collaboration between development and operations teams. The goal is to detect issues quickly, improve software reliability, and accelerate delivery to production environments. DevOps testing includes unit, integration, functional, performance, and security testing as part of the automated workflow.

What is the difference between Devops Testing vs Software Tester?

Job description

Director of Operations & Testing

Build the Operational, Demo, and Testing Backbone of 4MP

On Site · Allentown / Bethlehem, PA Area · Seed Stage

About 4MP

At 4MP, we are building a new technological foundation for precision manufacturing.

Our platform enables CNC machines to self-measure, self-correct, and continuously improve — transforming conventional machine tools into autonomous precision systems.

4MP is backed by a prestigious institutional investor and is fully funded at the Seed stage. We are now moving from early technical development into structured facility build-out, testing, demonstration, and validation.

We are currently in the process of selecting and establishing our first facility in the Allentown / Bethlehem area. This facility will become the center of 4MP’s operations, demonstrations, R&D testing, and technology validation.

The Mission

We are seeking a hands-on Director of Operations & Testing who can build and run the physical, operational, and testing foundation of 4MP.

This person will lead the setup of our facility, equipment, test environment, demo capabilities, and operating systems. They will work directly with the founding team to establish the environment where 4MP can develop, test, validate, and demonstrate its technology with speed and discipline.

This is not a traditional operations role.

This is a builder role for someone who can turn technical ambition into an operationally functioning reality.

What You Will Build

  • 4MP’s first operational facility in the Allentown / Bethlehem area
  • Lab, workshop, demo, and testing environments
  • CNC machine, metrology, tooling, and supporting equipment infrastructure
  • Testing workflows for hardware, software, machining, and system validation
  • Demo capabilities for investors, partners, customers, and technical stakeholders
  • Supplier, vendor, service, and facility partner ecosystem
  • Equipment readiness, maintenance, calibration, and uptime processes
  • Inventory, tooling, spare parts, and consumables systems
  • Safety, compliance, documentation, and operating procedures
  • A scalable operating foundation for future R&D and product growth

Role Nature: Founding Operations & Testing Leadership

This is a founding-level leadership role combining strategic ownership with daily hands-on execution.

You will be directly involved in facility selection, facility setup, equipment sourcing, installation, testing readiness, vendor coordination, operational troubleshooting, and team building.

You will work closely with the software development team to make sure the physical testing environment supports fast iteration, reliable data collection, and meaningful validation of 4MP’s technology.

You will also help build and lead the team responsible for testing, demo execution, machine readiness, technical operations, and day-to-day support of engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the facility search, setup, and operational readiness process in the Allentown / Bethlehem area
  • Define and build the physical infrastructure required for testing, demos, R&D, and prototype validation
  • Source, coordinate, and manage CNC machines, metrology equipment, tooling, fixtures, and supporting systems
  • Build the operational workflows needed for fast and repeatable testing cycles
  • Establish demo environments that clearly show 4MP’s technical capabilities
  • Work closely with software, AI, engineering, and leadership teams to align test infrastructure with product development needs
  • Coordinate equipment delivery, installation, calibration, service, maintenance, and uptime
  • Build and manage relationships with facility vendors, equipment suppliers, machine shops, service providers, and technical partners
  • Create systems for inventory, spare parts, tooling, consumables, and technical documentation
  • Help recruit, organize, and lead the team responsible for operations, testing, and demo execution
