Overall, it is considered a well-paying IT support role with growth potential.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a DevOps Support professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a DevOps Support professional, you need a solid understanding of system administration, scripting, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) concepts, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with cloud platforms (like AWS or Azure), containerization tools (such as Docker and Kubernetes), automation frameworks, and certifications like AWS Certified DevOps Engineer are typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, collaboration, and effective communication are vital soft skills for excelling in this role. These skills enable seamless deployment, high system reliability, and proactive issue resolution in dynamic IT environments.

What is DevOps Support?

DevOps Support refers to the team or role responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the infrastructure, tools, and processes that help development and operations teams work together efficiently. They monitor systems, automate deployments, handle incidents, and ensure smooth CI/CD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery) pipelines. DevOps Support professionals bridge gaps between software development and IT operations, aiming to improve deployment speed, reliability, and system uptime. They also assist with configuration management, cloud services, and resolving issues that arise in both development and production environments.

Is Devops Support an entry level role?

Job description

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer - Workday Integrations to bridge the gap between core Workday functionality and modern site reliability engineering (SRE). In this role, you will move beyond traditional, reactive production support. You will build, automate, monitor, and optimize our enterprise data pipelines. Your mission is to ensure continuous uptime, high reliability, and seamless data flows across our global Workday ecosystem.

What will you do?

Key Responsibilities:

Automation & CI/CD Pipelines

  • Build CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment, testing, and validation of Workday integrations.
  • Automate regression testing using scripting languages to minimize the impact of Workday's bi-annual feature upgrades and weekly patches.
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code (IaC) or automated scripts to streamline integration environment provisioning and configuration tracking.

Reliability, Monitoring & Observability

  • Design and implement proactive monitoring dashboards using APM tools (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace) to track integration health, API latency, and payload delivery.
  • Establish alerting thresholds and self-healing scripts to detect and remediate data flow bottlenecks before business operations are impacted.
  • Conduct deep-dive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for complex, systemic integration failures and implement permanent engineering fixes.

Advanced Production Support & Triaging

  • Own Tier 3 production support for business-critical Workday integrations, including Workday Studio, Cloud Connectors, PECI, and EIBs.
  • Optimize data transformations by refactoring complex XSLT, XML, and JSON payloads for better processing speed and lower failure rates.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and internal IT teams to troubleshoot secure network connectivity, custom API endpoints, and authentication protocols (OAuth, SAML).

Required Technical Skills

  • Workday Technical Core : Workday Orchestration, Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Core Connectors, Document Transformation (DT), Custom Reports, and Calculated Fields.
  • Workday Technical Advanced: Workday Extend(Good to have)
  • Programming & Scripting: Strong proficiency in Python, Shell, or PowerShell for automation, alongside XSLT, XML, and JSON.
  • Databases & Data Validation: Advanced SQL for querying, manipulating, and validating large upstream and downstream datasets.
  • DevOps & Monitoring Tools: Experience with CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions) and log aggregation/monitoring systems (Splunk, ELK Stack, or Datadog).
  • API Technologies: Deep understanding of REST and SOAP web services, GraphQL, and secure payload transport.

What do you need to succeed?

Qualifications & Soft Skills

  • Experience: 2 - 3 years of experience building complex Workday Integrations.
  • 3+ years of experience managing enterprise integrations, with at least 1-2 years applying SRE, DevOps, or automation frameworks.
  • Methodologies: Strong familiarity with ITIL service management, Incident Management, and Agile/Scrum delivery.
  • Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical skills to dissect complex data payloads and trace technical issues across distributed cloud systems.
  • Communication: Ability to translate complex technical integration failures into clear, actionable business impacts for non-technical stakeholders.

What's in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable

  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team
