About the Opportunity

Cleerly is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineering Manager to help lead the development, deployment, and operation of the next generation of our healthcare diagnostic platform. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management and will be responsible for building scalable cloud infrastructure, improving software delivery processes, and ensuring the reliability, security, and maintainability of our engineering platform.

The Senior DevOps Engineering Manager will partner closely with software engineering, product, security, quality, and other cross-functional teams to support the development and delivery of regulated healthcare software.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and evolution of cloud infrastructure and DevOps capabilities supporting Cleerly's healthcare technology platform.
  • Architect, build, and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure for company applications and services.
  • Lead the development and optimization of CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and software delivery processes.
  • Manage and mentor DevOps, platform, and/or software engineering individual contributors.
  • Establish technical direction, engineering standards, and operational best practices for cloud infrastructure and software delivery.
  • Build and manage infrastructure using Terraform and other Infrastructure-as-Code technologies.
  • Partner with software engineering teams to integrate infrastructure, deployment, monitoring, and security solutions into application development workflows.
  • Improve system reliability, availability, scalability, observability, and performance.
  • Implement and maintain appropriate cloud and application security controls.
  • Participate in architectural and technical design reviews across multiple engineering teams.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident-response capabilities.
  • Support production systems and participate in the investigation and resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Work collaboratively across Product, Engineering, Security, Quality, and other functions to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Align platform and infrastructure priorities with Agile/Sprint development processes.
  • Translate product and engineering requirements into practical infrastructure and software-delivery solutions.
  • Ensure engineering practices comply with applicable quality-management and regulated-software requirements.
  • Serve as a technical subject-matter expert and escalation point for engineers.
  • Coach engineers and create professional development and growth plans.
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, and mentor new engineering team members.
  • Represent the DevOps/platform engineering function to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Establish project timelines, assess engineering capacity, and support resource planning.
  • Prepare and deliver technical and operational presentations to leadership.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering, DevOps, site reliability engineering, platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, or closely related experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, or operating cloud infrastructure and automated software-delivery systems.
  • 3+ years of technical leadership experience, including responsibility for architecture, technical direction, mentoring, or leading complex engineering initiatives.
  • 2+ years of direct people-management experience, including performance management, coaching, hiring, and professional development.
  • 5+ years of experience working with AWS or comparable cloud infrastructure, with strong hands-on AWS experience required for this role.
  • 3+ years of experience building or managing CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation in production environments.
  • 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform or a comparable technology.
  • Experience with containerized and/or distributed application environments.
  • Experience with production monitoring, observability, incident response, and system reliability.
  • Experience integrating security practices into cloud infrastructure and software-delivery processes.
Technical Qualifications

Qualified candidates should demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

  • Understanding of web and cloud security, performance tuning, scalability, and high-availability architecture.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading DevOps, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure, or Site Reliability Engineering teams.
  • Experience supporting software in a regulated environment such as healthcare, medical devices, fintech, or another compliance-sensitive industry.
  • Experience with AWS EKS and Kubernetes-based production environments.
  • Experience establishing SRE practices, service-level objectives, operational metrics, and incident-management processes.
  • Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, or comparable technologies.
  • Experience developing security controls and working with Security, Quality, or Compliance teams.
  • Experience supporting highly available production systems.
  • Familiarity with regulated software-development lifecycle requirements and quality-management systems.
Travel and Work Arrangement

Less than 5% domestic travel is expected. A work-from-home arrangement is available subject to company policy.

Compensation

The base salary range for this role varies by location and is aligned to market benchmarks.

Candidates located in higher-cost labor markets, including California, Washington, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Washington, DC, generally represent the middle to high end of the range, while candidates located in other U.S. markets generally represent the low to middle end of the range.

Final compensation is determined based on location, experience, skills, and internal equity.

This role is eligible for a 15% target annual bonus.

  • Base Salary: $179,000-$219,000
  • Total Target Compensation: $205,000-$251,000

Total Target Compensation includes base salary and target variable compensation. Stock options, paid benefits, and employee perks are also part of Cleerly's total rewards package.
