Overview:
Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Infrastructure Engineer with strong experience in deploying, operating, and scaling Kubernetes clusters on bare-metal physical servers. This role requires deep expertise in cluster provisioning, storage, monitoring, and maintaining high reliability in on-premises Kubernetes environments.
Note: This is not a cloud engineering role - the ideal candidate must have strong rack/stack and physical infrastructure experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes clusters on physical servers.
  • Perform rack/stack, cabling, hardware setup, and infrastructure bring-up activities.
  • Manage provisioning workflows including bootstrapping nodes, networking configurations, load balancers, and cluster dependencies.
  • Configure and optimize storage solutions for Kubernetes (Ceph, local PVs, distributed storage, etc.).
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and cluster health dashboards for reliability and uptime.
  • Troubleshoot node failures, network issues, cluster degradation, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Automate infrastructure lifecycle using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Maintain cluster security, RBAC policies, certificate rotation, and secure deployment workflows.
  • Collaborate with platform, hardware, and DevOps teams to ensure end-to-end infrastructure stability.
  • Document procedures, architecture diagrams, and operational best practices.

Mandatory Skills
  • 6-8 years of experience as an Infrastructure Engineer / Systems Engineer.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes on physical servers (bare-metal).
  • Experience with rack & stack, server deployment, and physical datacenter operations.
  • Proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure provisioning.
  • Proficiency in Ansible for configuration management and automation.
  • Strong understanding of Linux system internals, networking, and storage subsystems.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.) and log aggregation.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience on production clusters.

Desirable Skills
  • Experience with distributed storage systems (Ceph, Longhorn, Rook, etc.).
  • Knowledge of service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
  • Familiarity with container runtimes, CRI-O, containerd, or Docker.
  • Experience with hardware provisioning tools (iLO, IPMI, Redfish).
  • Scripting experience (Python, Bash, Go is a plus).
  • Exposure to security hardening, CIS benchmarks, and compliance frameworks.
