We're an international team of visionaries and scientists, developing groundbreaking technologies that are transforming how the world uses information to enrich life.

  • The U.S. Expansion Construction team supports the design, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness of high-tech, large-scale semiconductor manufacturing facilities in the United States.

  • The NY Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Operations Engineer will coordinate I&C system build, construction assistance, startup activities, and transition to sustaining operations for Micron's semiconductor manufacturing facility in Clay, New York.

  • This role will partner with design firms, contractors, vendors, and internal collaborators to ensure I&C systems meet project specifications, operational requirements, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and long-term reliability expectations.

  • Upon completion of construction and commissioning, this role will transition into the NY Operations Engineering team to support operational readiness, system ownership, solving, maintenance strategy, and continuous improvement for I&C assets.

(Disclaimer) While you may not exhibit all of the characteristics/skills listed below today, we are highly interested in a team member who is anxious to grow in both technical breadth and depth. If you are open to learning from and being a valued member of a team of seasoned engineers, we are eager to help build on your existing foundation and expand your individual and collaborative skills in this exciting and unique opportunity.

What's Encouraged Daily:

  • Be responsible for third-party firms in the development, review, and validation of I&C system builds, including control architecture, field instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA, DCS, equipment layouts, specifications, and the work you're doing related to builds.

  • Review design documents, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, submittals, and technical specifications to ensure alignment with project requirements, constructability, applicable standards, and operational needs.

  • Support construction execution by responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, participating in field coordination, supporting inspections, and resolving technical issues with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

  • Coordinate commissioning, startup, testing, and system validation activities to ensure I&C systems are delivered safely, reliably, and in accordance with project specifications and operational requirements.

  • Own and support I&C systems post-construction, including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, sensors, transmitters, valves, controls infrastructure, and related field instrumentation.

  • Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, system health monitoring processes, solving practices, and lifecycle management plans for I&C assets.

  • Ensure I&C systems stay in sync with applicable safety, regulatory, electrical, instrumentation, and cybersecurity standards, including OSHA, NFPA 70, ISA, IEC, and related industry requirements.

How To Qualify:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a closely related technical field.

  • demonstrated ability in I&C engineering, including design collaboration, construction support, commissioning, operational solving, or sustaining engineering.

  • Experience with PLCs, SCADA, DCS, industrial instrumentation, controls system software, diagnostics, and field device integration.

  • Working knowledge of relevant safety, instrumentation, electrical, and cybersecurity standards, including ISA, IEC, NFPA, OSHA, and control system safety practices.
