The Applications Engineer serves as the primary customer-facing technical representative within the Engineering team, leading the successful execution of customer applications and projects from initial opportunity through installation and delivery. This role bridges customers with Business Development, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Certification, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Production to ensure customer requirements are understood, technically sound, cost-effective, and delivered on schedule.
As the technical lead for assigned projects, the Applications Engineer develops application solutions, supports proposals, coordinates engineering activities, prepares customer-facing documentation, and provides installation and field support. • Lead customer applications from opportunity through project completion, coordinating cross-functional engineering resources.
  • Conduct aircraft surveys, installation planning, technical reviews, and field support activities.
  • Gather and document customer requirements, aircraft configuration data, installation information, and technical documentation.
  • Develop installation concepts, technical proposals, project documentation, schedules, and customer-facing engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinate project milestones, engineering deliverables, and technical communications throughout the project lifecycle.

Technical & Proposal Support
  • Support Business Development by providing technical expertise for RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and customer inquiries.
  • Develop technical cost estimates, project assumptions, engineering effort, schedules, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with Engineering leadership to validate technical approaches, resource requirements, and project feasibility.
  • Assist in prototype development, testing, installation support, and technical issue resolution.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, product specifications, installation guidance, and customer technical materials.

Continuous Improvement
  • Standardize customer-facing engineering processes, documentation, and project templates.
  • Improve cross-functional project handoffs to Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Production, and Customer Service.
  • Gather market and competitive intelligence to support product development and proposal strategies.
  • Identify technical risks, scope changes, and project impacts that may affect cost, schedule, or customer expectations.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong customer-facing communication and project leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical projects while coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, BOMs, and customer requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering documentation systems; CAD experience is a plus.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50%, both domestically and internationally.

Preferred Experience
