Description
The Manufacturing Engineer Intern supports Manufacturing Engineering activities to integrate, improve, and sustain manufacturing systems and processes, with a focus on extrusion processing, production, and validation. This role provides hands-on exposure to continuous improvement, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration within a regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Accountabilities
  • Actively promote and support a culture of safety.
  • Support compliance with operational, quality, and customer requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aligned with company goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with Manufacturing Engineering projects as assigned.
  • Support Lean / Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in hands-on process improvement activities, applying basic engineering concepts to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Support the Validation team in transitioning new programs to production, including manufacturing lines, secondary operations, and production planning.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining manufacturing specifications and documentation, including work instructions and process guides.
  • Work with Manufacturing to help communicate and reinforce key technical and process requirements.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to support product compliance and investigate quality concerns.
  • Participate in NCR, CAPA, and Continuous Improvement meetings as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams at the Pleasant Prairie site.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an Engineering degree program (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related).
  • Working knowledge of basic inspection and measurement equipment.
  • Basic proficiency with PC-based tools (e.g., Excel, documentation systems).
  • Strong interest in manufacturing processes, continuous improvement, and problem solving.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Work performed in office, production, and warehouse environments.
  • May work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and noise levels requiring hearing protection.
