Position Overview

Client is seeking a DevOps Engineer 3 to join the DevOps Engineering team within Client Digital. This role will support engineering teams in designing, building, testing, deploying, and maintaining cloud-based solutions.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with AWS, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, CloudFormation, IAM, and AWS MLOps/AI services. The role requires an independent problem solver who can work closely with cross-functional engineering teams and provide technical support for complex cloud and infrastructure environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy software systems, applications, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Independently manage complex application, technical, and infrastructure-related assignments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, cloud, and infrastructure issues, including occasional off-shift or weekend support.
  • Develop and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure supporting multiple applications and engineering teams.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
  • Develop and deploy Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation.
  • Manage and troubleshoot AWS IAM, cloud connectivity, and related infrastructure issues.
  • Support engineering teams with CI/CD, cloud deployment, and Infrastructure as Code activities.
  • Work with AWS MLOps and AI services, including SageMaker Notebooks, Amazon Bedrock, ECS/EKS, and IAM.
  • Maintain high standards for software and infrastructure quality through effective engineering practices.
  • Participate in integrated testing and customer acceptance testing to ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with end users, internal customers, and engineering teams to support application development, debugging, testing, interoperability, and completeness.
  • Identify opportunities for technical improvement, scalability, and process optimization.
  • Participate in regular DevOps team standups and serve as a technical point of contact for assigned Digital engineering teams.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Caterpillar management.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–7+ years of DevOps or software development experience, preferably in a DevOps Engineer role.
  • 5+ years of hands-on AWS cloud experience.
  • Strong experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions.
  • Proficiency developing YAML-based CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong experience creating and deploying AWS infrastructure using CloudFormation.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS MLOps and AI services, including:
    • Amazon SageMaker
    • Amazon Bedrock
    • Amazon ECS/EKS
    • AWS IAM
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering and technology teams.
  • High school diploma required; college degree is not required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS or Azure Associate/Professional-level certification in DevOps, Development, or Architecture.
  • Experience with AWS firewall and network configuration.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
  • Experience working with NVIDIA GPUs for AI use cases, particularly from a cybersecurity and governance perspective.
  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience supporting scalable cloud environments and enterprise engineering teams.
