Job description

Overview

Salary Range: $109,853-$184,613

Senior DevOps Engineers lead the design and implementation of hybrid clouds infrastructure, kubernetes clusters, and CI/CD pipelines. They are responsible for architecting and building platforms using Infrastructure as Code and frameworks to create consistent, verifiable, and automatic management and deployment of application between all environments throughout the development lifecycle. They monitor, troubleshoot, maintain, and continuously improve containerized applications, Kubernetes clusters, and cloud infrastructure. They automate infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, backups, security, and monitoring. They perform job duties with a DevOps approach to ensure quality in all phases of the process.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with architects and development teams to understand technical requirements and convert them to executable infrastructure solutions
  • Design, build, and maintain cloud-agnostic infrastructure using Terraform, and Kubernetes. Implement infrastructure as code for multi-cloud or hybrid deployments.
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for applications deployments  
  • Architect and manage Kubernetes ecosystem tooling, including Kubernetes policy enforcement, GitOps deployments, and service mesh for secure service-to-service communication.
  • Create and manage Kubernetes clusters, write YAML manifests for pods, services and deployments
  • Build and maintain dockers images and containerized applications for high availability and scalability
  • Manage and enhance Kubernetes clusters access control, service scaling and secret managements, policies
  • Develop native cloud functions and watchers for notification and ServiceNow ticket integration.
  • Automate monitoring and alerting in Zabbix
  • Manage cloud infrastructure (multi-clouds) for Commercial on the Shelf applications (various applications)
  • Write automation scripts using Python, Bash, and PowerShell
  • Document infrastructure configurations, deployment process, and runbooks for knowledge sharing
  • Propose and implement branching strategies and version control best practices
  • Design and support backups and disaster recovery: On Prem, Cloud, Kubernetes resources
  • Lead technology planning through ongoing research, forecasting, and proactive initiatives. Establish and maintain standards and best practices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues involving multiple systems and networks
  • Conducts software rollouts that target a large group of the user community
  • Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and observability solutions, including Open Search (logging), Grafana (dashboards), Tempo (tracing), Mimir (metrics storage), and Alloy (data pipelines).
  • Administer developers accounts, permissions, and access rights;  Guides the development team
  • Analyze current technology utilized within the company and develop steps and processes to improve and expand upon them
  • Manage centralized secrets and rotation using HashiCorp Vault and External Secrets Operator
  • Evaluate and implement open-source and vendor-neutral DevOps tools to avoid lock-in.
  • Experience with cloud security, such as managing users, roles, and privileges through IAM and integrating vulnerability assessment tools with CI/CD pipeline
  • Partner with InfoSec to design and implement cloud security controls, Kubernetes admission policies, and vulnerability remediation processes. Implement security controls
  • Ensure all infrastructure and pipelines meet PCI DSS and SOC2 requirements and support external audits.
Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science with 7+ years' experience in clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP) and open source implementation projects. A degree is highly desirable but not required, as appropriate experience will be considered. 
    • Experience of different platforms (on-prem and clouds).
    • Kubernetes experience is mandatory
    • Terraform experience is mandatory. Hands-on experience with HashiCorp Vault
    • Experience of workloads migrations (between clouds and on-prem).
    • Exposure to FinOps or cost optimization across multi-cloud environments.
    • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
    • Familiarity with data platforms (Apache Family products Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Camel, NIFI, Atlas).
    • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people effectively.
    • Experience of CI/CD practices and integration with DevOps pipelines.
    • Experience in the logistics industry, maintaining cloud resources for Manhattan Scale, and large order management systems.
    • Experience in a multinational, multilingual setup. Multiple spoken languages is a plus
    • Certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP, Terraform, Kubernetes) are a plus.
