APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE*** Job Summary Positions in this series supervise professional engineering associates, technical engineering staff, and/or engineering students; direct activities of assigned staff, organize personnel, equipment and materials, and delegate assignments; evaluate the performance of employees according to established policies and work performance standards; ensure accurate and timely completion of work assignments; and provide guidance and training. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR certified as an Engineering Intern and two years of professional engineering experience; OR two years of experience comparable to the Staff I, Associate Engineer or the Supervisor I, Associate Engineer level.

Job Duties This position supervises the Environmental Division Engineering Sections (Hazardous Materials, Naturally Occurring Asbestos/Erionite, Traffic Noise, and Air Quality) of the Environmental Services Program within the Environmental Division. It is preferred, but not required, to be a Nevada Certified Environmental Manager (CEM). Position requirements are regulatory driven primarily applied to roadway projects and Department operations as noted below: 1) Assist in reviewing Department activities for environmental concerns.

2) Manage service provider procurement process and serve as project manager providing oversight on service provider agreements. 3) Assist in inspections and reviews of Department facilities and practices. 4) Assist in managing projects and review reports for UIC order, spill incidents, and other regulatory issues as they occur.

5) Assist in managing subsurface assessments and remedial projects and UST removals. 6) Assist in surveying structures for the presence of asbestos and provide management requirements and action-related regulatory direction. 7) Represent the Department, in support of or behalf of, in regulator-related communications related to position responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities This class specification lists the major knowledge, skills and abilities of the job and is not all inclusive. Incumbent(s) will be expected to have knowledge, skills and abilities from a previous level. Knowledge of: current engineering principles and practices; practical application of algebra, geometry and trigonometry.

Working knowledge of: correct English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation. Ability to: supervise operations effectively including organizing workflow and delegating responsibility in order to complete projects timely and efficiently; analyze problems and develop alternative solutions; resolve problems effectively with staff, contractors, public officials, the general public and State agencies; write technical reports, recommendations, consultant agreements and other materials; convey engineering concepts and calculations to subordinates; calculate project/program cost estimates; maintain complete and accurate records of section activities; and all knowledge, skills and abilities required at the lower level.
