Job description

General Function

Provide device repair technician support to store, utilizing technical problem solving skills, electronic cross-reference, and web research. Repair cell phones, tablets, light fixtures, and other devices. Provide customers total solutions to their battery, bulb, and services problems while doing so in a courteous, professional and helpful manner.

Essential Responsibilities

Device Repair / Technical

● Repair cell phones, tablets, and other devices based on priority

● Replace screens, batteries, and other components on smartphones and tablets

● Able to rebuild cordless drill batteries and other battery packs as needed

● Replace cords, sockets and other parts on lamps and light fixtures

● Assist with cycle count every week to reflect the accurate utilization of device repair inventory

● Rotate and stock inventory

● Follow all safety rules and regulations; wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

● Cut keys and reprogram key fob remotes

Customer Service / Sales

● Greet customers, determine needs and answer questions

● Suggest sell add-on items

● Directly communicates with customers about device repairs and status of repairs.

● Maintains problem resolution proficiency standards and customer satisfaction levels. Escalates situations to management when necessary

● Ask questions to identify potential commercial customers

● Operate computer/cash register to complete sales transactions with accuracy

● Watch for loss prevention issues and advise management of any unusual activities

● Demonstrate a customer-first mentality

Qualifications

● High School education or equivalent required with relevant experience strongly preferred. Associates degree in electronics, or other technical degree preferred.

● 3-6 months of previous device repair experience. Demonstrated technical aptitude.

● Demonstrated problem solving skills. Duties require the ability of the use of judgment in minor decisions and use of some judgment as to the method of performance.

● Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work with relative independence on regular, routine duties, referring questionable situations to supervisor or others.

● Good listening and verbal communication skills with a customer focus; general knowledge of customer service policies/procedures

● Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to effectively manage and track multiple commitments; effectively prioritize, follow up, and meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The physical demands required to perform the essential responsibilities of this position are as follows.

● This position requires the employee to regularly use hands to handle or touch electronic products, stand, walk, sit, frequently talk and hear; occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach above

shoulders. Lifting 10-20# on a regular and frequent basis, 50# on an occasional basis, and more than 50# on an infrequent basis.

● While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee will occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions and the risk of electrical shock. The level of noise in the working environment is moderate.

● The position also requires the employee to regularly use electrical cables, simple hand tools, a magnifying glass, spot welders, automotive and electronic testing equipment, key cutting and programming equipment and a company automobile.

● Protective clothing and/or equipment used in this position includes safety glasses, goggles, gloves, and steel-toed shoes.
