Position Specific Description

As a Business Development Manager, you will support the Florida Power & Light Optional Supplemental Power Services (OSPS) group which is responsible for selling and implementing resiliency and backup power solutions for commercial, industrial, governmental, and critical infrastructure customers. Solutions include backup generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), power monitoring, and related electrical infrastructure. In this role, you will build relationships with decision-makers to drive sales with end-use commercial/industrial and governmental customers. This role works closely with the OSPS Project development team to close sales.

An ideal candidate will:

  • Develop and execute territory and account growth strategies to identify and capture new business opportunities.
  • Build relationships with executive decision-makers, facility leaders, engineers, consultants, and government stakeholders.
  • Prospect for and qualify commercial, industrial, governmental, and critical infrastructure opportunities.
  • Identify customer resiliency, reliability, and operational challenges and align OSPS solutions to customer needs.
  • Work closely with the OSPS Project Development team to evaluate opportunities, develop technical solutions, and prepare preliminary project pricing.
  • Lead customer presentations, proposal development, contract negotiations, and sales closing activities.
  • Maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities using Salesforce and other approved tools.
  • Collaborate with FPL Account Management, External Affairs, Engineering, and other internal partners to develop and advance opportunities.
  • Support development of customer-facing sales and marketing materials.
  • Represent FPLES at industry, governmental, and community events to promote OSPS services.

An ideal candidate should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Construction Management, Energy Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of business development, technical sales, account management, or consultative solution-selling experience.
  • Experience selling complex infrastructure, energy, construction, electrical, or utility-related solutions.
  • Experience selling distributed generation, backup power, energy infrastructure, electrical systems, microgrids, UPS systems, or related technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop executive-level customer relationships and close complex, multi-stakeholder sales opportunities.
  • Familiarity with governmental procurement processes and public-sector customers is preferred.
  • Support the development of customer-facing sales and marketing materials.
  • Experience utilizing CRM tools such as Salesforce.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout Florida.

    This position is based out of the Customer Service East Office in West Palm Beach, Florida. Flexible work arrangements may be available; however, regular travel throughout the state of Florida is expected.
