Description

The Supplier Development Engineer plays a critical role in developing and maintaining a world-class supplier base by ensuring suppliers consistently meet BOMAG's quality, delivery, and operational requirements. This position leads supplier qualification, audits, performance management, new product launch readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives while serving as the primary technical liaison between suppliers and internal cross-functional teams. Through the application of quality engineering principles, advanced problem-solving techniques, and supplier development strategies, this role drives sustainable supplier performance, minimizes risk, supports successful product launches, and contributes to the company's lean manufacturing and continuous improvement objectives.

Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of supplier quality systems, manufacturing processes, and supplier development principles.
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and other automotive or heavy equipment quality methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting supplier audits and developing supplier improvement plans.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Supplier Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting new product launches and supplier development activities preferred.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Lead Auditor certification, or Six Sigma certification is a plus.
