Job description

Job Purpose:

Review and research new crane systems technology and maintenance requirements in order to develop new operator, maintenance, and parts documentation to support LANCO customers.

Essential Functions:

  1. Creation of technical documentation regarding operation and maintenance of cranes
  2. Documenting the specifications, design, features and operation of applications
  3. Layout and design of documents using document creation software following the Mi-Jack Products style.
  4. Interviewing engineers, applications developers, technical resource personnel, vendors, and sales personnel to ensure the accuracy of all documentation developed.
  5. Based on interviews, create a document to allow customers to both operator and maintenance their crane equipment.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Apply hands-on expertise and knowledge of the structure, electrical and hydraulic systems of cranes in order to write up operational and maintenance procedures for crane manuals.
  2. Apply technical knowledge of Autodesk Vault process control system to aid in gathering schematics and research crane components based on Bills of Material.
  3. Apply technical knowledge of Epicor system to acquire bills of material for cranes in order to conduct research for documentation purposes.
  4. Understand and apply knowledge of schematics to assist in documentation and procedural write-ups.
  5. Follow departmental structures and procedures to ensure efforts are streamlined and no duplication of effort occurs.

Qualifications Guidelines

Experience/Training/Education:

Required: 3+ years in an industrial equipment setting. Must have superior writing and editing skills.

Desired: Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of the manufacturing of cranes and crane systems. Bachelor’s degree in English or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing business office setting with knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft Office products.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

The ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely. Must have excellent interpersonal skills in order to elicit detailed information from subject-matter experts (for example, engineers, systems developers and vendors), and also liaise with the Sales personnel to extract end user requirements when applicable. They also need to be adept in document creation using applications such as Acrobat, Microsoft Word and Power-Point.

Work Environment

This role is primarily office-based but may require time in production, warehouse, shipping, receiving, or outdoor areas to support equipment measurements, loading activities, shipment planning, and continuous improvement projects. The position may occasionally require lifting up to 50 pounds.
