What is the Opportunity?

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall execution of one or numerous projects in a safe and profitable manner, ensuring consistency with the company strategy, and commitment to goals.

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing projects up to $10M+ in the Calgary and surrounding areas. The position will be based out of our Quarry Park office in Calgary, Alberta with regular travel to site on a daily basis.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Lead by example ensuring Aecon's Environmental, Health and Safety Management System is adhered to.
  • Develop, submit and assess Health and Safety Plans, Environmental Construction Operating Plans, Quality Management Plans and Traffic Accommodation Strategies.
  • Responsible for the understanding and interpretation of project estimates.
  • Accurately interpret and comprehend contract drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare work schedules and coordinate project staff.
  • Provide onsite management of crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and all other resources to complete the job.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.
  • Ensure that contracts are kept current and updated with change orders on a regular basis.
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly tracking and understanding of pay quantities and cost reports.
  • Chair meetings and lead discussions with defined outcomes.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their Supervisor.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Civil Engineering Degree or Diploma, or equivalent training and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Project Manager; a combination of civil construction experience as a Project Coordinator or Project Engineer will be considered.
  • Familiarity with City of Calgary and surrounding area projects and specifications.
  • Experience with asphalt paving, concrete, earthworks, and underground construction.
  • Capable of reading and understanding construction drawings and documents.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
  • Adaptable to work a flexible schedule when required, including evenings, weekends, and overtime.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Competent in prioritizing tasks effectively and managing time efficiently.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol program, including testing requirements.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
