Job Description

The pay for this position ranges from $24.64 - $34.28 per hour. 

The Planning Technician - Material Control provides all aspects of planner support to Material Control at the Structural Fabrication Facility.

Successful candidates will be expected to provide technical assistance to the Material Control Team in determining executable work, providing necessary documentation to accomplish that work, research material, determining material availability, and ordering material as needed. Also including bill of material development and job packaging. Depending on specific assignments, job will consist of varying levels of office, shop floor, and onboard work.

Required/Preferred Education/Training
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Graduate of BIW Manufacturing or Design Apprentice preferred.
Required/Preferred Experience
  • Three years' experience in planning, manufacturing and/or design with a strong background in material control and inventory storage practices preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend blueprints and other technical documents required.
  • Competent usage of common PC-based systems (Microsoft Office, etc.) required.
  • Strong knowledge of work management systems (MACPAC, ESS, JIRA, FLOC, etc.) preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must meet all requirements of the physical task analysis for Material Planner in manufacturing environment.
