Description

Capital Technology Group (CTG) is thrilled to welcome one ambitious undergraduate or graduate student for our Summer 2026 Business Development Internship. If you are excited by strategy, relationship building, and helping drive growth in the federal contracting space, this is your chance to gain hands-on experience while learning from experienced business development and capture professionals.

This internship is hybrid in Silver Spring, Maryland. The program is full time at 40 hours per week and runs for 8 weeks from June 22 through August 14.

As a Business Development Intern, you'll support real growth initiatives that directly contribute to CTG's federal business pipeline. You'll work closely with our Growth, Capture, and Proposal teams to help identify and qualify new opportunities, conduct market and agency research, support capture activities, track procurement trends, and contribute to proposal and business development efforts. You'll gain exposure to the full federal BD lifecycle, from early market shaping and relationship development through opportunity pursuit and proposal support.

You'll collaborate with a small, fast-moving team, receive mentorship from experienced leaders, and gain firsthand insight into how federal government contractors win and grow business across civilian and defense agencies. Your work will be meaningful, your contributions visible, and your learning immediate.

Client Requirements: applicants MUST BE US Citizens and be able to obtain Public Trust clearance

ResponsibilitiesOpportunity Research & Pipeline Support
  • Conduct research on federal agencies, market trends, and potential contracting opportunities.
  • Monitor opportunities through SAM.gov, GovWin, and other acquisition platforms.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the BD pipeline and CRM records.
Capture & Proposal Support
  • Support capture planning activities, opportunity qualification, and pursuit tracking.
  • Assist with proposal coordination including document organization, compliance tracking, formatting, and submission support.
  • Help gather resumes, past performance information, and technical content from internal teams for proposal efforts.
  • Support responses to RFIs, Sources Sought Notices (SSNs), and RFPs.
Teaming & Collaboration
  • Research potential teaming partners and assist with partner coordination activities.
  • Collaborate with Growth, Proposal, Recruiting, and Technical teams on active business initiatives.
  • Participate in internal meetings and gain exposure to the federal business development, capture, and proposal lifecycle.
Professional Development
  • Learn about federal contracting, government procurement, capture management, and proposal development through hands-on experience and mentorship from CTG leadership.
Requirements
  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Strong interest in civic tech, federal contracting, and mission-driven work.
  • Interest in business development, capture management, proposal operations, or federal growth strategy.
  • Familiarity with the federal procurement process, FAR/DFARS, or government contracting concepts through coursework, internships, research, or extracurricular experience is a plus.
  • Exposure to tools such as GovWin IQ, SAM.gov, USASpending.gov, Salesforce, or similar CRM/research platforms is preferred but not required.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Self-starter mindset with a willingness to learn, collaborate, and contribute in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have Skills
  • Experience developing capture plans, competitive assessments, teaming strategies, and price-to-win analyses.
  • Experience with IDIQ vehicles, GWACs, and task order competitions (e.g., GSA MAS, CIO-SP3, SEWP V, OASIS).
  • Familiarity with small business set-aside strategies and SBA programs (8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB).
  • Active clearance or eligibility
  • Shipley or equivalent BD/capture methodology training or certification.
  • Experience with proposal development processes and ability to contribute to executive summaries and management volumes.
