POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fall Semester Marketing & Communications Internship at the Ozarks Regional YMCA offers students hands-on experience in nonprofit communications and community storytelling. Guided by the marketing director, the intern will observe and participate in a variety of strategic outreach activities, gaining insight into how communication supports mission-driven impact. This internship is designed to benefit the intern through professional skill-building, mentorship, and portfolio development in a real-world setting.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion, the intern will be able to:
• Understand the fundamentals of nonprofit marketing and public relations.
• Assist in digital content creation, event promotion, and community engagement strategies.
• Gain experience using content management systems and communication tools.
• Build a portfolio of work that reflects applied learning and growth.
EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES MAY INCLUDE:
• Being mentored in the creation of newsletters, media pitches, and website content.
• Support event planning and promotional coverage to learn about community outreach.
• Observing the process of updating communication templates and digital assets.
• Participating in team meetings and internal communication processes.
• Shadowing in cross-functional marketing coordination and strategy.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current full-time student pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, public relations or related field.
2. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
3. Familiarity with content management tools, Microsoft Office and basic graphic tools.
4. Organized, detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects at once.
5. Ability to design for a wide range of audiences using inclusive and equity-centered approaches.
6. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
