Data Center Development Associate

Kansas City, MO

Direct Counsel represents an AmLaw 100 firm seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Data Center Development Associate to join its nationally recognized practice in Kansas City.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with 3+ years of commercial real estate and development experience who wants to work on cutting-edge data center projects representing developers, investors, hyperscale users, lenders, and other key stakeholders in projects across the United States.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise clients through all phases of data center development and infrastructure projects.
  • Handle complex commercial real estate transactions, including site acquisitions and dispositions, ground leases, title and survey review, and commercial leasing.
  • Counsel clients on land use, zoning, permitting, entitlements, utility and interconnection agreements, and construction and development contracts.
  • Coordinate with environmental and engineering consultants throughout the diligence, permitting, and development process.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across real estate, energy, finance, environmental, construction, and regulatory practices to deliver practical, business-focused legal solutions.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial real estate, development, or infrastructure transactions.
  • Experience with site acquisition, leasing, land use, zoning, permitting, and development agreements.
  • Background in renewable energy, digital infrastructure, project finance, or public-private partnership projects is a plus.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, project management, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent academic credentials and communication skills.
  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Active Missouri bar admission required.
