Senior Civil Engineer - Land DevelopmentAbout the Company

Company is a growing and competitive engineering firm specializing in civil engineering, land planning, and land development. The company offers a collaborative and positive work environment and is seeking a motivated Senior Civil Engineer to join its diversified team of professionals.

Position Summary

The Senior Civil Engineer will lead and manage complex residential land development and civil engineering projects from planning through construction. This role is responsible for project execution, client management, engineering design oversight, scheduling, budgeting, and supervising technical staff while ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage project schedules and ensure timely completion of assigned projects

  • Serve as Senior Project Engineer and primary client contact for complex projects

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships

  • Participate in project pricing, estimating, scoping, and proposal development

  • Assist in preparing engineering agreements and contracts

  • Forecast workload and resource allocation for engineering staff

  • Prepare probable construction cost estimates

  • Attend client and project meetings, including occasional evening meetings

  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs, and geotechnical/topographical data to support project planning and design

  • Prepare and review engineering reports, specifications, plans, environmental studies, and construction schedules

  • Direct and supervise engineers, drafters, and technicians in preparing construction documents and working drawings

  • Conduct construction site visits to monitor progress and compliance with contract documents

  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software for design and documentation

  • Support department operations and perform additional duties as needed

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from an accredited university

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in civil engineering and residential land development

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D

  • Strong understanding of land development design, permitting, grading, drainage, utilities, and construction processes

  • Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating with clients, contractors, and municipalities

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Skills
  • Residential land development project experience

  • Construction cost estimating and project budgeting

  • Client-facing project management experience

  • Ability to supervise and mentor engineering staff
