Role Overview

We're looking for a dynamic Director, Developer Relations to serve as a bridge between VAST Data's technical teams and our user community. In this role, you'll champion our technologies through workshops, technical content, and evangelism, helping customers and prospects understand how VAST Data and our API-first storage platform can transform their data pipelines and AI initiatives. This position reports directly to the Vice President, Digital COE (The Digital COE includes developer enablement and advocacy both in online communities and in-person).



Required Skills & Experience



Technical Evangelism & Community Building

  • Represent VAST Data at industry conferences, meetups, and events as a keynote or featured speaker
  • Design and deliver compelling technical workshops showcasing VAST Data's platform capabilities
  • Build relationships with developer communities, AI practitioners, and data engineers
  • Be a part of and nurture our active community of VAST Data customers and partners


Content Creation & Enablement

  • Develop high-quality technical content including tutorials, blog posts, videos, and documentation
  • Create comprehensive workshop materials for both in-person and virtual delivery
  • Build demo applications, reference architectures, and proof-of-concept implementations
  • Design and implement hands-on labs focusing on data platform pipelines and AI workflows for DevOps and MLOps target audiences


Technical Expertise & Customer Success

  • Create reusable assets demonstrating best practices for data platform implementations
  • Build and showcase integration patterns between VAST Data and popular AI frameworks
  • Serve as a technical advisor to SEs and customers implementing VAST Data solutions
  • Collaborate with product teams to translate customer feedback into product improvements


AI Agent and Workflow Development & Showcasing

  • Develop proof-of-concept AI agents and data pipelines that leverage VAST Data's infrastructure
  • Create educational content explaining how VAST Data enhances AI development workflows
  • Collaborate with partners to showcase the advantages of VAST Data in pipelines used by their AI agents
  • Stay current on emerging AI technologies and frameworks to identify integration opportunities

Requirements:


  • Experience with modern AI frameworks and data processing technologies
  • Familiarity with distributed computing concepts and technologies
  • Software development experience in languages and tools used in data engineering (Python, SQL, vector databases, etc.)
  • Background in developer relations, advocacy, or technical evangelism
  • Excellent public speaking abilities with proven experience presenting technical content to large audiences
  • Strong technical writing skills with a portfolio of blog posts, documentation, or other technical content
  • Experience creating and delivering technical workshops or training programs
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for various audiences



Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Understanding of modern advanced storage and compute architectures, particularly open-source, and their impact on data pipeline performance
  • Knowledge of containerization, orchestration, and cloud-native technologies
  • Understanding of modern database technologies
  • Experience with VAST Data products or similar data platform technologies
  • Experience building and deploying data pipelines in production environments
  • Active social media presence in relevant technical communities
  • Previous experience working with enterprise customers in the data infrastructure space
  • Experience with data visualization tools and techniques
