They bridge the gap between a company’s products and the developer community by promoting tools, APIs, and platforms in ways that resonate with developers. Their work often involves producing technical content, organizing developer events, and building relationships with developer influencers. The goal is to increase product adoption and community engagement by understanding and addressing the unique needs of developers.

How does a developer marketing manager typically collaborate with product and engineering teams?

Job description

Title: Lifecycle Marketing Manager

Location: Austin, TX / Dallas, TX

Reporting to: Sr. Manager, Lifecycle Marketing

About Hippo:

Hippo was built on a promise: make homeownership effortless. Nearly a decade later, that mission still drives us. We use technology and data to help our customers stay ahead of problems and protect what matters most.

Today, that same tech-native approach powers our work beyond homeowners. Hippo operates as a diversified carrier platform, partnering with MGAs to deliver tailored program solutions that help them grow and deliver better customer experiences. Behind that work is a team that values ownership, curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

If you're energized by building what's next, we'd love to meet you.

About This Role:

We're looking for a hands-on Lifecycle Marketing Manager to implement and execute impactful lifecycle campaigns (email, SMS, push), streamline processes, and drive operational initiatives forward. Reporting to the Senior Lifecycle Marketing Manager, you'll build smart automations and focus on what truly drives results.

As a member of the Lifecycle Team, you'll work side by side with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Analytics, Sales, and Customer Experience to drive growth across the whole customer journey, from acquisition and onboarding to engagement, cross-sell, and retention.

This role brings sharp analytical and experimentation skills, an eye for detail, and a passion for personalized marketing to campaign builds in tools like Braze and Customer.io, turning data and creativity into impact.

About You:

You're a brand-first content marketer who knows how to turn organic growth strategy into content that actually earns attention - a storyteller who can take even the most complex topic and make it feel effortless to understand. You bring the discipline of a project manager to the creativity of a writer, hitting every deadline without ever letting quality slip. For you, voice, tone, and creative integrity aren't a checklist to clear - they're the whole point, and it shows in every piece you touch.

You write and direct copy that sounds unmistakably like Hippo, and you have the editorial instincts to dig into industry trends and shape direction that speaks to multiple audiences while still driving the business forward. You move easily between agencies, designers, product marketers, and communications teams, translating a shared vision into work that holds together across every touchpoint. You're growth-minded at your core, always looking to what the data says and using it to sharpen what comes next. And when the work has to hold up in a regulated environment - legal reviews, compliance checks, the works - you're the person who can navigate that with confidence instead of friction.

What You'll Do:

Campaign Build & Personalization

  • Own campaigns from beginning to end, developing the strategy, creating content, coding, QAing, building the target audience, and launching, ensuring a cohesive process from concept to send
  • Analyze campaign performance and findings post-launch, using insights to iterate on content, targeting, and design for continuous optimization
  • Code dynamic, personalized campaigns across email, push, and SMS using HTML, CSS, and Liquid, leveraging modular code and API-driven data to create scalable, flexible customer journeys
  • Execute multi-channel journeys in Braze by designing, QAing, and optimizing campaigns with Canvases, API triggers, segment filters, Liquid logic, content blocks, and personalization
  • Write complex personalization logic using advanced Liquid conditions, loops, and filters to parse and render dynamic content from JSON objects

Platform & Systems Management

  • Integrate and troubleshoot APIs by configuring endpoints, testing integrations, and collaborating with engineering to resolve data pipeline or system issues
  • Monitor and troubleshoot CRM performance, proactively identifying and resolving SMS delivery errors, broken links, or UTM mismatches using Braze logs, Google Postmaster, and customer data platforms
  • Proactively monitor platform health by tracking Braze, Customer.io, and deliverability tools (Google Postmaster, Microsoft SNDS) to identify risks or issues affecting CRM performance

Segmentation & Targeting

  • Segment and target audiences precisely by defining audiences based on behavioral, demographic, or custom criteria, collaborating with data and product teams using SQL and Tableau

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Analytics, Creative, and Marketing teams to align requirements, improve processes, and enhance campaigns
  • Improve operational workflows by identifying inefficiencies and implementing scalable processes for testing, documentation, link libraries, and reporting standardization
  • Manage projects end-to-end by overseeing timelines, writing tickets, and planning sprints to ensure smooth campaign execution

Must Haves:

  • 3-5 years of experience developing email campaigns with HTML/CSS
  • 3+ years of experience with Liquid (or a similar templating language)
  • Hands-on technical experience with Braze and Customer.io
  • Strong focus on process improvement, identifying inefficiencies and driving solutions
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Enthusiasm for working for a mission-driven brand
  • Innovative and creative, with a logical and methodical approach to problem-solving
  • Driven, self-motivated, and committed to high-quality work and outcomes
  • A belief in true partnership and collaboration throughout an organization
  • A passion for customer success
