Job description

General Description The Stormwater Engineer Intern performs advanced technical and management duties in conducting and supervising the preparation of project work plans, project management, cost estimates, contract administration, creation of technical reports, specifications & engineering calculations. The schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Supervises, plans, and coordinates work of assigned staff. Reviews and evaluates employee performance and completes performance evaluations. Counsels staff and initiates commendations or disciplinary action when appropriate.

Conducts project meetings to ensure work procedures are followed, and coordinates the participation of consultants, engineers, designers, and contractors. Performs reviews of drainage/grading plans, stormwater management plans, and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans for building permits. Performs site inspections for permitting requirements and ongoing construction projects.

Responsible for collecting and coordinates elements included in the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit as well as the County Community Rating System. Supervises the preparation of project work plans, cost estimates, project management & contract administration, and creation of technical reports, specifications & engineering calculations. Coordinates project meetings ensuring work procedures are followed.

Attends Technical Services Division meetings with the public and engineering consultants. Performs associated design work and preparation. Conducts studies and prepares reports.

Assists with other miscellaneous engineering projects. Performs other duties as required. Minimum Requirements Education, Training, and Experience Associates Degree in STEM field required Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering preferred Three (3) years of progressive experience in Civil Engineering project management and capital improvement project site design and development experience.

Experience in stormwater, roadway, site, and pavement design. Certificates, Licenses, Registration, Skills Valid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida. Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida, preferred

Working knowledge of drainage, hydrology, and hydraulics. Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear, confident manner using proper grammar. Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.

Working knowledge of AutoCad. Must have strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses: IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS) IS-200.b: ICS for Single Resources & Initial Action Incidents IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System IS-800.c: National Response Framework, an Introduction Physical Requirements/Work Environment Requires a combination of sitting, standing, and walking

The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 20 pounds. The job requires frequent balancing, and occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching above shoulders. The job requires the completion of tasks that involve frequent typing, driving automotive equipment, and simple grasping, pushing, and pulling.
