Downhole Chemical Solutions (DCS) is a fast-paced, employee-owned oil and gas chemical company specializing in chemical optimization through data-driven decision making. Founded in 2015, DCS focuses on being the best at a targeted set of solutions, supported by a strong culture of innovation in technology, operations, and engineering.


Why are we hiring?


DCS is seeking a Software Development Intern to work in their Lafayette, LA office. This is a hands-on role supporting DCS's custom web application suite and data-driven technology roadmap. The intern will work alongside the development team, gaining real-world experience in full-stack development within a fast-moving, production environment. Strong performance during the summer may open the door to continued part-time engagement during the school year. 


Location and Schedule

In-person

Lafayette, LA 

8 AM-5 PM Monday-Friday

Employee will work in DCS's engineering department, and report to the Engineering Manager - Data & IT 


Benefits

This is an hourly, non-exempt position

Not eligible for benefits, 401K, or ESOP enrollment


Primary job responsibilities & expectations

Support development, maintenance, and optimization of UI for DCS's custom web applications

Assist with troubleshooting bugs and application errors under the direction of experienced developers

Write clean, readable code that adheres to team coding standards and best practices

Collaborate with team members, product stakeholders, and end users to deliver quality software

Maintain and update technical documentation as needed



Requirements

Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree program

Current or rising Senior preferred; strong Junior candidates will be considered

Self-motivated with the ability to take direction, work within a team, and manage assigned tasks

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly


Desired Skills

Foundational knowledge of front-end development - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and at least one modern web framework

Familiarity with SQL or relational databases (hands-on experience a plus)

Exposure to API concepts or basic back-end development

Creative mindset, innovative tendencies, and self-motivated work ethic 

  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to debug and support existing applications


Must be within driving distance of the location
