Job description

Under the direction of the Pre-Construction Manager, the Estimator II assists with development of project estimates on mid-size commercial projects, or aspects of larger scale commercial projects. They will help prepare estimates of scope changes prior to their initiation and assists with cost optimization of changes under consideration.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • May assist in the training, coaching, or assistance of Estimator I work.
  • Can provide constructability reports, analyze plan specs, and understand/decipher scope gaps within the plans and specifications.
  • Assists in estimating the cost of new projects in the assigned area.
  • Analyzes changes to the projects and services provided.
  • Provide breakdowns of project costs.
  • Documents procedures used in conducting cost analysis.
  • Helps review sub-contractor proposals and provides comments to project team.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Prepare alternatives allowances, and VE options.


Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Solid analytical & problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in On-Screen Take-off, SmartBid, Building Connected, Destini, and Excel, or similar estimating software.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of project specs, engineering, and architectural plans.
  • Working relationships and knowledge of local subcontractors.
  • Principles of construction cost estimating.


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business or similar preferred.
  • Strong preference given to candidates with Commercial Construction experience.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years related experience required.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods.
