Job description

Filter Tech Systems is a UFT company that has been regularly engaged in building and supplying Packaged Drinking Water Filtration Plants for more than 50 years.Ā Ā We specialize in solving the important problem of providing safe, reliable and consistent water treatment, even in the most complex applications. Potable water, wastewater or industrial water, we can help ensure you are able to reach whatever your required result is.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Water Treatment Process Engineer with 3+ years of experience in designing, optimizing, and managing water and wastewater treatment systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in municipal or industrial water treatment processes, strong analytical skills, and the ability to handle all aspects of design support for a range of projects from concept through commissioning.

What you will do:
  • Design and develop water and wastewater treatment processes, including treatment trains, PFDs, and P&IDs.
  • Perform process calculations for sizing equipment such as pumps, clarifiers, filters, membrane systems, chemical dosing systems, and sludge handling units.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Support proposal development, including cost estimation and technical input.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, civil, instrumentation).
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Interact with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies as required.
Background/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in water or wastewater treatment process engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes (e.g., coagulation/flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, membrane systems, activated sludge, MBR, RO).
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and instrumentation controls.
  • Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD / Inventor, Excel, process simulation software).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
$80,000 - $115,000 a year
