Job description

Sr Platform Engineer Windows

Location: Carrollton, TX
Work Mode: 100% Onsite
Engagement: 5month contract (with strong potential to convert to fulltime)

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer Windows to help design, operate, and modernize enterprisegrade infrastructure across AWS and Windows environments. This role combines strong operational rigor with a modern approach to automation, cloudnative design, and DevOps practices.

You will play a critical role in building secure, scalable platforms while enabling development teams through reliable CI/CD pipelines, infrastructureascode, and standardized tooling. The ideal candidate values stability and governance but is equally driven to reduce manual effort, improve delivery speed, and continuously evolve platform capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Platform & Infrastructure Engineering

  • Design, implement, and operate highly available and scalable infrastructure on AWS
  • Architect and maintain Windows (and select Linux) environments integrated with cloud platforms
  • Develop and manage infrastructureascode using Terraform (OpenTofu) and AWS CloudFormation/CDK
  • Build and maintain Windows configuration management using Chef
  • Ensure platform reliability, resilience, and consistency across environments

CI/CD & Automation

  • Design, build, and optimize GitLab CI/CD pipelines for .NET applications
  • Champion automation to improve deployment speed, reliability, and repeatability
  • Partner closely with development teams to enable efficient, secure software delivery

Security, Operations & Visibility

  • Implement and enforce security best practices across infrastructure and pipelines
  • Collaborate with security, risk, and compliance teams to meet enterprise standards
  • Implement monitoring and logging solutions to ensure system health and observability
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and deployment issues across environments

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Contribute to platform standards, architectural patterns, and technical documentation
  • Stay current with industry trends in cloud, platform engineering, and DevOps
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering
  • Strong handson experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Solid Windows Server administration experience in cloud or hybrid environments
  • Proven experience with Terraform (OpenTofu) and AWS CDK
  • Experience designing and supporting GitLab CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience deploying and supporting .NET applications in cloud environments
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices
  • Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls)
  • Experience with monitoring and logging platforms (e.g., CloudWatch, New Relic, Prometheus)
  • Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, Ruby, or Bash
  • Handson experience with Chef for Windows environments
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and troubleshooting skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform certifications
  • Strong PowerShell and Python scripting expertise
  • Experience with AWS EC2 features (Auto Scaling, Warm Pools)
  • Windows image and build automation using Packer and Chocolatey
  • Experience with IIS and Windows server tooling
  • Chef cookbookcentric experience (Windows focus, versions 17/18, Supermarket)
  • SQL experience including clustering, high availability, automation, and RDS/EC2
  • DNS and networking experience with Microsoft DNS, AWS Route 53, and AWS VPC
  • Active Directory expertise including security, PKI, trusts, domains, and forests
