We are experiencing significant growth in our utility division and are seeking a Utility Detail Engineer to support the design and manufacturing of steel utility structures that support major transmission projects across the country.
This is a unique opportunity to join an established engineering team and become one of the first dedicated Utility Detail Engineers focused exclusively on supporting a rapidly expanding utility business. You'll work on large-scale steel transmission structures, including monopoles, transmission towers, H-Frames, and A-Frames for projects reaching up to 500kV.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate detailing activities required for utility pole and transmission structure manufacturing.
- Review customer-supplied and in-house engineering designs.
- Develop and review CAD drawings and Bills of Material (BOMs).
- Ensure designs conform to company, customer, and utility standards.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, and Project Teams to ensure designs are accurate and manufacturable.
- Communicate with customers regarding technical clarifications and engineering decisions.
- Create and review in-house and vendor designs.
- Verify layouts and designs using AutoCAD, PLS-Pole, and SolidWorks.
- Interpret engineering calculations and apply structure-specific detailing requirements.
- Review attachment points, handholds, base plates, and structural components.
- Perform design analysis, layout verification, and detailing calculations.
- Manage multiple projects while meeting production and customer deadlines.
- Support continuous improvement efforts within the engineering department.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of engineering detailing experience.
- Strong AutoCAD experience.
- Experience detailing structural steel components.
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Blueprints
- Bills of Material (BOMs)
- Purchase Orders
- Approval Drawings
- Customer Specifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with utility transmission structures.
- Experience with monopoles, transmission towers, H-Frames, and A-Frames.
- PLS-Pole experience.
- SolidWorks experience.
- ERP experience (Epicor preferred).
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferred, not required).
- Utility industry experience involving steel structures and transmission systems.
