About Gold Family Farms

Gold Family Farms is a leading wholesale nursery dedicated to growing exceptional plants and delivering outstanding customer experiences. As we expand into direct-to-consumer retail, we are launching the Gold Family Farms Garden & Landscape Center (GLC)—a premier destination for gardeners, homeowners, and outdoor living enthusiasts.

We are seeking an entrepreneurial and results-driven General Manager to build, lead, and grow this exciting new venture. This is a unique opportunity to create and scale a retail business from the ground up while helping shape the future of the Gold Family Farms brand.

Position Overview

The General Manager will lead all aspects of the Garden & Landscape Center, transforming a startup retail operation into a profitable, customer-focused business that serves as both a retail destination and an innovation platform for future farm-based experiences, events, and consumer products.

This position will work closely with ownership and senior leadership to drive growth, profitability, operational excellence, and long-term strategic development.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee all retail operations, staffing, merchandising, inventory management, marketing execution, and customer experience initiatives.
  2. Develop and execute annual business plans, budgets, and growth strategies.

  2. Ensure excellence in merchandising, store presentation, signage, customer service, and seasonal displays.
  3. Develop programs that increase customer loyalty and repeat business.

Team Development

  1. Recruit, train, coach, and develop a high-performing team.
  2. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, teamwork, and exceptional customer service.
  3. Build leadership capabilities within the organization and develop future managers.

Inventory & Merchandising

  1. Partner closely with Gold Family Farms Wholesale to optimize inventory flow and product assortment.
  2. Analyze inventory performance, turnover, seasonal demand, and margin opportunities.
  3. Ensure a curated product mix that aligns with customer needs and business objectives.

Marketing & Community Engagement

  1. Increase brand awareness through local partnerships, educational programming, workshops, events, and customer engagement initiatives.
  2. Lead customer acquisition and retention strategies, including CRM and loyalty programs.
  3. Serve as a visible ambassador for the Garden & Landscape Center within the community.

Strategic Growth

  1. Lead implementation of approved growth initiatives and business milestones.
  2. Evaluate opportunities in farm products, workshops, events, and future agritourism experiences.
  3. Support the long-term vision of establishing GLC as a flagship destination within the region.

What Success Looks Like

  1. Success in this role will be measured through:
  2. Revenue and profitability growth
  3. Gross margin and EBITDA performance
  4. Customer growth and retention

  6. Inventory productivity and accuracy
  7. Labor efficiency and operational performance
  8. Team development and leadership bench strength
  9. Successful execution of strategic growth initiatives

Qualifications - Required

  1. 5+ years of proven leadership experience with responsibility for business operations and team management.
  2. Previous success building, growing, or scaling operations.
