Job description

About the Position
UBX Cloud is looking for a Level 1 IT Support Technician to join our technical support team. This is an entry-level position focused on desktop support, client service, and troubleshooting common hardware and software issues.
The technician will work closely with senior engineers and receive hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, virtualization, backups, and other advanced technologies. This position offers opportunities for technical training, professional development, and advancement into a Systems Engineer role.
Responsibilities
  • Provide remote and in-person desktop support for client users.
  • Respond to support requests and provide timely updates through our ticketing system.
  • Set up and configure desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, scanners, and other equipment.
  • Install, update, and troubleshoot Windows operating systems and business applications.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, printing, scanning, email, and user-access issues.
  • Support users working in Microsoft 365, Citrix, Remote Desktop Services, and cloud-hosted environments.
  • Create and manage user accounts, passwords, permissions, and security groups.
  • Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding, including workstation setup and account access.
  • Perform basic Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administrative tasks.
  • Assist senior engineers with server updates, maintenance, migrations, and infrastructure projects.
  • Help monitor backups and participate in scheduled backup and disaster-recovery testing.
  • Gain experience with Veeam, VMware, Hyper-V, OpenStack, and other cloud technologies.
  • Participate in client calls, internal meetings, and technical training.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and procedures in the company's internal knowledge base.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineers when appropriate.
  • Follow UBX Cloud's security, documentation, and customer-service standards.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of Windows computers, common business applications, and computer hardware.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer-focused attitude and willingness to help.
  • Ability to manage multiple support requests and follow established procedures.
  • Ability to document work clearly and accurately.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and accept coaching from senior engineers.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Up to one year of experience in desktop support, help desk, IT support, or a related position.
  • Technical education, training, internship, or hands-on IT experience.
  • Basic familiarity with Active Directory, networking, VPNs, or remote-support tools.
  • Familiarity with Citrix, VMware, Hyper-V, Veeam, or cloud-hosted environments.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or similar certifications are preferred but not required.
