Job description

Responsibilities
Seeking a Systems Engineer in Portsmouth, NH. You will be responsible for updating and maintaining computer systems and networks with software and security patches and evaluating application impact.
The target systems include Linux Red Hat/CentOS and Windows systems hosted within Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) environment. The engineer will maintain the network architecture including Cisco Virtual Lans. The engineer will automate the process to patch client machines after evaluating and testing the impact of security patches. The engineer will identify hardware and software faults and develop corrections.
Qualifications
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • BS 2-4 Years, MS 0-2 or HS 8-10
  • Monitor Building environmentals to maintain specified norms. Apply mechanical fixes when out of specified baselines. IE restart AC or humidifiers/dehumidifiers as the situation dictates. Maintenance on environmental systems as required water/air filters.
  • Conduct hardware and software maintenance on IT systems to include Switches/Servers/NAS/DAS /VMs/Desktops/Printers/peripherals.
  • Ensure proper startup and configuration of IT based trainers as per clearly defined SOPs and baselines.
  • Ensure proper shutdown and configuration of IT based trainers as per clearly defined SOPs and baselines.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance of said IT/HVAC systems based on a clearly defined maintenance schedule.
  • Any and all other tasks and technical directions, assigned by the civilian TOSA as SUBTM duties.
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Cyber Security. Equivalent experience will be considered ("A" or "C" schools and years of applicable experience).
  • 3 years of related experience, most preferably in a comparable role supporting Navy trainers
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Authorization to Operate (ATO) criteria.
  • Knowledge of Container technology and Kubernetes Orchestrator
  • Additional Operating System Certifications (Microsoft, Red Hat, Networking, Hardware)
  • Extensive operating system knowledge for configuring and administering systems. Candidate should be able to develop procedures not just follow them.
  • Experience managing Virtual Machines.
  • Strong networking background, ability to configure and deploy network services.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross functional teams supporting developers, cyber security managers and project leads.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
