Desk Assistant and Community Assistant

University Student Housing, LLC (USH), a division of the WCU Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, manages six high-end communities located on the West Chester University (WCU) campus.

USH operates four residence halls: Allegheny Hall, Brandywine Hall, Commonwealth, and University Halls on the north campus of West Chester University.  There are also two garden-style apartment communities, The Village Apartments and the East Village Apartments on south campus. Together, these six communities house almost 3,000 students.  USH provides a challenging work environment that is uniquely suited to those who thrive on change.

University Student Housing, LCC is seeking current West Chester University students to fill their open positions of:

  • DESK ASSISTANT
  • COMMUNITY ASSISTANT

The Desk Assistants and Community Assistants serve as representatives of USH and are the first point of contact for the students and guests within the residential community. They are responsible for assisting in the effective administration of the community by serving as the primary point of contact for the students and guests. The Desk Assistants and Community Assistants will also provide assistance to the USH and Residence Life and Housing Services (RLHS) staff with administrative tasks and serve as a resource of information to students, guests, and future residents. The Desk Assistants and Community Assistants are expected to act responsibly and professionally to promote the comfort and privacy of all residents and to maintain the successful operation and security of the communities. The ideal candidate(s) for either of these roles will exhibit high energy, passion for excellence and professionalism.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (DESK ASSISTANT):

  • Greet visitors in a warm and welcoming manner.
  • Support the USH staff by effectively and efficiently performing administrative responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assist in opening and closing buildings.
  • Monitor all keys to ensure that our resident safety and security is intact.
  • Manage package intake and distribution to residents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (COMMUNITY ASSISTANT):

  • Greet visitors in a warm and welcoming manner.
  • Support the USH staff by effectively and efficiently performing administrative responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assist in opening and closing buildings.
  • Assist with the implementation of marketing efforts on-campus, in the community and at special events. 
  • Assist prospective residents with completion of online application ensuring all documents are completed accurately. 
  • Conduct periodic account audits according to procedures.  
  • Assist with preparation of resident correspondence and collections follow up communications. 

QUALIFICATIONS (DESK ASSISTANT AND COMMUNITY ASSISTANT):

  • Must be a current WCU student with no judicial record, current or past, that has resulted in a sanction of temporary loss of housing, permanent loss of housing, or suspension from WCU.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly.
  • Must be able to learn and use new technology.
  • Must be able to participate in all meetings and training sessions.
