Job description

Job Summary:
TICO is seeking a CDL Driver to be responsible for operating a tractor/trailer rated at 80,000 lbs., to transport materials and/or equipment. Driver is responsible for following all applicable laws, maintaining logs of their activities, and maintaining and protecting all property entrusted to them.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate tractor/trailer in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies
  • Operate, load, secure and transport spotter trucks and equipment to designated locations in a timely manner
  • Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment (hand trucks, pallet jacks, lift gates, etc.)
  • Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transport
  • Inspect vehicles before and after trips (pre-trip and post-trip inspections)
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs and required documentation
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members
  • Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Perform required Driver's Vehicle Inspection Report.
  • Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
  • Comply with Company/agency policy/procedures, and maintain a safe, clean work environment.
  • Maintain basic cleanliness and care of assigned vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Comply with FMCSA Hours of Service Regulations and maintain required logs/ELD records.
  • Maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiners Certificate (Medical Card).
  • Be able to obtain a TWIC card.
Qualifications:
  • Must maintain eligibility for work through compliance with state and federal regulations governing routine/random/post-accident drug and alcohol testing for all employees governed by DOT regulatory process.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class A or B (as required)
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with company and insurance standards.
  • Operate safely within port facilities and comply with all port authority safety regulations.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while driving
  • Frequent climbing, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, crouching
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items (typically 50-100 lbs)
Education and Experience:
  • Two years of flatbed truck driver experience, as well as demonstrated ability to always operate a commercial tractor safely.
  • A thorough knowledge of traffic laws and DOT regulations.
