Job description

We are seeking an experienced Licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE) with expertise in HVAC and MEP system design for commercial and institutional buildings. This is a hands-on engineering position focused on the design, analysis, and documentation of mechanical systems-not project management.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in mechanical building system design and will serve as the Engineer of Record, leading projects from concept through construction while collaborating with architects, engineers, and construction teams. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of healthcare, commercial, municipal, institutional, veterinary, and other specialized facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Design HVAC and mechanical building systems for commercial and institutional projects.
  • Perform engineering calculations, HVAC load analyses, and equipment selection.
  • Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Serve as the Engineer of Record, providing technical oversight throughout the design process.
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and other construction-phase documentation.
  • Conduct field investigations, site visits, and construction observations as required.
  • Resolve design and constructability challenges by developing practical engineering solutions.
  • Support commissioning, inspections, punch-list activities, and project closeout.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Maintain a high level of technical accuracy and quality throughout all phases of project delivery.

Requirements

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience; 10+ years preferred.
  • Strong experience designing HVAC and MEP systems for commercial buildings.
  • Experience with healthcare, municipal, institutional, veterinary, or similarly complex facilities is preferred.
