ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Highway/Roadway Project Manager - Hybrid - Flexible MA office location

Through these initiatives and recognitions, VHB's Structures/Highway continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing transportation infrastructure and improving community safety and sustainability in the New England region.

As a Senior Highway/roadway Project Manager, you would be responsible for the management of transportation engineering projects including roadways, bikeways, and utility design. Duties include overseeing traffic engineering, stormwater management, drainage, temporary traffic control, traffic signals, construction observation, cost estimating and construction administration. Our team uses its skills and experience to improve our communities with a sustainable, context-driven and integrated project delivery mindset. Our clients include local municipalities, MassDOT, DCR and other state public transportation agencies, and private partners who support the development of the places we live, work, recreate and learn.

Responsibilities:

    Managing large multi-disciplinary highway reconstruction projects, both traditional bid-build and alternate delivery (Design-Build, PPP, etc.)
  • Working with Contractors for the delivery of Design-Build projects.
  • Training / mentoring junior staff in various aspects of highway design.
  • Assisting with the production and delivering transportation projects through the construction administration phase
  • Pre-design project planning and financial management
  • Design of highways and roads including the development of geometric layout, grading, and drainage, working with utilities, and environmental permitting
  • Development of technical design and specification documents

Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering required. Masters degree preferred
  • 11-15 years' experience
  • Current PE in Massachusetts or licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Massachusetts PE license within six months

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Boston/Watertown, MA is $140,000-190,000 and the position located in Worcester,MA is $130,000-180,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
